What is a Content Management System?

A Content Mangement System (CMS) allows you, as the owner of the website, to log-in to a secure website area called an "Administration Suite" and add new pages to your site, edit existing pages, or delete old out-of-date information quickly and easily. You can upload pictures, graphics, and Office-style documents such as MS Word or Adobe PDF files.

So, How Does It Work?

The content management system is protected at all times by a secure login screen, like the one shown to the right. The administration suite provides all of the toolsets and options you will use to keep your website up-to-date.

Because the entire system is hosted and available via the Internet, you can update your website at any time from anywhere with an Internet connection.

The Control Panel

At the heart of the system is a Control Panel - a set of icons which provide access to the main functions. These icons provide short-cuts to allow you to create, edit or delete webpages, upload pictures, graphics or files to include in your website, set up additional users so they can login and maintain parts of the website and set up links to webpages in the navigation menus of your website.

If your Content Management System provides any extra Components, such as the eShop eCommerce system, links to these are also displayed here - it's your main 'dashboard' where you can access all the toolsets you need - there's even a built-in context sensitive help system, in case you get stuck!

Your website can also publish information in other languages, so if you do business with Europe or further afield, the CDTi Content Management System is perfectly suited to publishing your website.

Isn't Web Publishing Really Difficult?

Not with a CDTi Content Management System! We provide an excellent WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) interface, which provides you with all the features and facilities you'll need. If you are familiar with using software such as Microsoft® Word, you'll feel at home when using our systems. The main interface for creating or editing web pages looks like the image shown below:
